Author & Illustrator Ruth McNally Barshaw presents Ellie McDoodle:Most Valuable Player

You know Schuler loves to pump Michigan authors — the Lansing Schulers are particularly proud of capital city author and artist Ruth McNally Barshaw, author of the Ellie McDoodle middle grade series.

Often compared to the Wimpy Kid books, Ruth’s books are sketch-journal style stories about compulsive doodler Ellie McDougal, nicknamed Ellie McDoodle. The series has a fantastic sense of humor that matches author Ruth’s adorably goofy personality. (The two of us bonded immediately over our matching spazziness.)

Ruth will be visiting the Lansing store on Monday night, April 16th, at 6:30 p.m. for a book talk and drawing demo. We’ve hosted Ruth before and seeing how quickly and skillfully she can whip out her signature drawings is a real treat!

In honor of her newest book, Ellie McDoodle: Most Valuable Player, we’re encouraging kids to wear their favorite sports gear to the event, be it a team uniform or a nod to their favorite professional team! Everyone who wears their gear will be entered into a drawing for a prize pack!
