Jaye Beeler brings Homegrown Food to Schuler and your TV!

We’ve got another fantastic Michigan release to tell you about — one that Foodies will be particularly excited about! The book is called Tasting and Touring Michigan’s Homegrown Food, a project by former Grand Rapids Press Food Editor Jaye Beeler and award-winning photographer Dianne Carroll Burdick, that features what they call a “Culinary Roadtrip.”

Filled with photographs in full-color glossy prints the book is a compendium of Michigan-grown food, from dairy farms and fisheries to farmers’ markets and orchards, rounded out with a section of recipes featuring Michigan products.

You can get in on the fun  at upcoming events we’re hosting for the book in both Grand Rapids and Lansing, or by catching the author’s interview on the show Great Lakes Kitchen!

Both Jaye Beeler and Diane Caroll Burdick will be at our 28th St. store in Grand Rapids for a talk and signing this Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m.; and Jaye will be making a solo appearance at our Lansing store the following Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. She’ll be bringing samples of Michigan goodies for you to try as well as talking about the book.

Finally, Jaye is making a guest appearance on this week’s episode of Great Lakes Kitchen, showing Saturday May 19th at 11:00 am and 11:00 pm on WHTV My 18 in Lansing and Jackson. Great Lakes Kitchen features Veteran Chef Denene Vincent and Tammie Gingas creating a variety of unique and savory gourmet dishes. Each week Denene and Tammie go on an adventure to find a local Michigan product to feature as the main ingredient. Two Chefs plus 1 adventure equals the recipe for Great Lakes Kitchen~ An Epicurean Adventure.

Check it and let us know what your favorite Michigan food is!
