The Bittersweet Return from Vacation

We’ve all been there – that first day back from vacation… you have to fight your way into your cubicle because of all the mail and packages dumped in your absence… you’re afraid to look in your inbox for the sheer overwhelming numbers of emails to sort through… but you’re pumped about sharing your vacay pictures and rocking the new dress you got (ok maybe that’s just me…).

Well, we’ve got a week’s worth of events at the Lansing store to get me back in the swing of things — killer young adult events with Richelle Mead (tomorrow, June 12 at 7 p.m.) and MacMillan’s Fierce Reads tour (Friday, June 15 at 6 p.m.) featuring Anna Banks, Leigh Bardugo, Jennifer Bosworth and Emmy Laybourne) — and an exciting drop-in event for Wednesday.

Kathy and Richard Verlander, parents of star Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, will be doing a lunch-time signing at the Lansing store from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (June 13) for their new memoir Rocks Across the Pond. A book about raising sons in a “Baseball is Life” family, it’s the perfect Father’s Day present, so mark your calendars!

And for tickles and giggles, here are a couple photos from my vacation in Chicago. 😀

Detail from a Van Gogh Self-Portrait. Visiting the Impressionist gallery at the Chicago Institute of Art had an entirely different meaning for me after recently reading Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore!

Also went to Shedd Aquarium to see the awesome Jellies exhibit!

And felt total joy to see Lansing author Deb Diesen’s Pout Pout Fish books front and center at the Shedd gift shop! (see, I worked books into this…)
